People of Vancouver, SHAHdjs and SLAB present a swath of Vancouver’s favourite underground dj’s to send the Back Stage lounge and 2017 off in style. With a line up reminiscent of the parties at W2, this two room party is sure to be a night to relish and remember.

Grenier -

We are excited to welcome back long time friend Dean Grenier from his travels in Berlin, a perennial visitor to Vancouver since the mid 2000’s when he first appeared under his Dubstep moniker DJG. Grenier has turned to the sounds of techno and you need only listen to his most recent release on Danny Daze’s Omnidisc imprint to get a taste of what you are in for. Dean enthrals crowds with his deep and technical mixes and his new batch of productions look to set the dance floor ablaze.

Michael Red -

Michael Red is a Vancouver and Sunshine Coast based electronic music producer, performer and DJ. The founding member of the respected bass music collective Lighta! Sound, head of the Low Indigo leftfield music label, one half of the experimental dub duo Chambers, curator for New Forms Festival for over ten years, Bass Coast Music Festival resident, Shambhala Music Festival performer over ten years, former long term collaborator with throat singer Tanya Tagaq, and ambient/experimental artist under the alias Souns. His music has been released on Modern Math, New Kanada, Mutek Recordings, South Fork Sound, King Deluxe, Debacle, Beacon Sound, Deep Sea Mining Syndicate, Panospria, Sensing Waves and more. Michael's performed across Canada, Europe, Australia, NZ, Mexico, New York and has been written about in The Wire, XLR8R, Resident Advisor, and Vice's Thump. Ongoing influences include: dub music, all nature, outer space, the unseen world, transcendence and evolution.

Max Ulis -

Max is half of Sabota, and a charter member of Lighta! Sound, which has been instrumental in the building of Vancouver’s underground movement for the better part of a decade. He has performed at prestigious festivals such as Decibel, Mutek, and New Forms, and is a regular on the west coast festival circuit. Max’s music has been played by notable performers such as Tim Green, Skream, B Traits, Shadow Child, Grenier, &ME, and Breakage and he’s shared the stage with a who’s who of contemporary dance music.

Greazus -

Known as much for their voracious appetite for Sativa and Pizza as their floor filling musical stylings, the Greazus boys have been tearing up dance floors in Vancouver and on airwaves across the world.

Greazus is a culmination of nearly 2 combined decades of experience producing, DJing, running their label, Aufect and promoting underground shows in Vancouver. This is the shared vision of two of the Vancouver’s most renowned and prolific bass music ambassadors - HxdB & Patrik Cure. Individually, both are accomplished music producers with established credentials and releases on well-known labels like Tectonic, Brownswood and Mindset.

Together they have combined their shared experiences and passion for music, to create a uniquely infectious sound, paying homage to their Jungle, Drum & Bass and Hip Hop roots, while fusing elements of Juke, Footwork and Grime. The result in both their productions and performances has been blowing up dance floors and opening eyes to their hybrid, genre-melding sounds. Both have performed frequently across North America and at legendary festivals like Shambhala and Bass Coast Project, and globally at Outlook Festival. Despite this project being in its relative infancy, the two have already received support from international heavyweights like Noisia, Rockwell, Machinedrum, Alix Perez, Youngsta, dBridge, London Elektricity, J:Kenzo, Sam Binga, Om Unit, Ivy Lab & Fixate.

They have collaborated with and remixed well-established artists like Sam Binga, Sinistarr, Shield, DJ Madd, Doctor Jeep, Kabuki, John Rolodex, HomeSick and BSN Posse,. Armed with their feverish studio ethics, they have many new and exciting top secret sounds yet to unleash. With music released on legendary labels, Hospital Records & Critical Music in addition Saturate Records and a full EP on Diffrent Music and more music on Vandal, GREAZUS is ready to blow up your dance floor.

Levrige -

Hailing from Vancouver, BC comes the duo Levrige, aka Erski & J.F.Killah. Representing Vancouver's famed SHAHdjs crew, they have been honing their skills for years. Producing their own unique brand of infectious bass music, they represent an exciting wave of talent from Canada's West Coast. Effortlessly combining elements of Drum & Bass, Hip Hop, Jungle and Footwork, their music is a perfect representation of all that is right with underground dance music. The iconic melodies and depth in their work is evident in their sound, which ranges from tough badboy swagger to smooth dubby grooves. Their first release came in 2016 with the "Samhain EP" on Black Tuna Recordings, followed by their "Diamonds EP" on Aufect Recordings that received support from Ivy Lab, Dexta, and Doctor Jeep to name a few. Next came their tune "Wise Guy" that was included on the "Modern Soul 2" compilation for Vandal Ltd. followed shortly after by a remix of Doctor Jeep's "TX" on Aufect. In less than a year following their first release, their track "The Legend" came out on Hospital Records' compilation "The Future Sound of Canada." Be sure to keep it locked on Levrige for big releases and collaborations on the horizon.

Ryan Wells -

In recent years, Ryan Wells has cemented his reputation as one of Western Canada’s most exciting and enthusiastic djs and producers. After establishing a name for himself in Nelson BC, Ryan carried that momentum to Vancouver, quickly becoming a go-to choice for prime time slots at some of Western Canada's most highly regarded festivals including Shambhala, and Bass Coast.

Combining an ecclectic mix of house, techno, and bass music, Ryan’s live sets focus on creating an uplifting and infectious dancefloor vibe, which has resulted in him sharing the stage with some of the world’s best including Tiga, Justin Martin, B. Traits, and Denis Sulta. Original music such as “Lucia's Garden” and remixes including Ladyfrnd “Geist” have garnered praise by utilizing that same high energy and dedication in the studio.

Sam Demoe -

Sam Demoe is an affable sort of gent, a man of elusive flexibility both behind the decks and in the greater pacific northwest electronic music community. Musically, he’s filled many roles – MC, DJ, producer, promoter – always looking for new creative challenges. He’s held in high regard by selectors on the west coast for his ability to whip any crowd into a frenzy, big room or small - and with his deep knowledge of dance music from hip-hop to house, hybrid-bass to techno and beyond, the needs of more discerning listeners are never neglected. His highly anticipated summer festival DJ mixes are a perfect showcase – good variety, mature pacing, and rock-solid mixing are on display in spades.

Sam's unique fusion of classic house palettes with emerging techno derivatives sees to it that he's always adding to his toolkit, honing over a decade of experience into an unforgettable night out. Close your eyes, turn up, listen, and be moved.

Just Sheila -

Bred from the cold wet winters of Squamish, British Columbia, Just Shelia has graced the decks of many an underground party. Her musical prowess has led to gigs at various nightclubs in Vancouver, and Whistler BC, as well as a multitude of festivals, including Shambhala and Bass Coast. An avid promoter, Sheila helps curate the best talent possible for Squamish’s new nightclub, The Knotty Burl.

Known for her diverse, discerning, and engaging performances that feature a blend of house, garage, UK funky, 808 house and bass music, this maven of music has a laser sharp focus on the dance floor.

Rasta MC -

Disociate -

Disociate is not one to cut corners or make sacrifices just to please the masses. This young producer has a taste cultured beyond his years. Drawing influence from 2-step, liquid, jungle and boundary pushing sounds yet to be labelled, with tempo’s roaming from 60 to 170bpm, he isn't afraid to explore a variety of rhythms and sounds.

Jesse unified Vancouver’s TURU Crew in 2014, and together they have proved time and time again that the deeper sounds of bass music have a place up front and center. TURU made waves at Bass Coast 2015, and Disociate has kept up the momentum by bringing some major names to Vancity including Biome, Geode, Leon Switch, DJ Madd, Sleeper, Doctor Jeep, Sorrow, J:kenzo, MORESOUNDS, and Homemade Weapons.

Barlee -

Just seeing Barlee walking down Commercial drive, listening to his headphones and smoking a Blunt is enough to put you in a good mood, but wait til you hear him behind the decks. In just over five years, Barlee has played 100 + shows on the West Coast including festivals such as Bushwacked, Bass Coast, and Shambhala. He has shared the stage with international heavyweights like EPROM, Youngsta, Alix Perez, RL Grime, Machinedrum, G Jones , Bleep Bloop, UZ, and The Gaslamp Killer. Today, Barlee is a strong representative of the Vancouver bass music community. His positive, energetic vibe coupled with his exquisite taste, are sure to get you going on the dance floor.
